Q: My free day
in Florence is on a Monday, is there anything open?
A:The
main museums of Florence are closed on this day, but the churches are
open, so are the bell towers, you can walk around the city, eat, shop
at the markets and explore. There is lots to do and you will run out
of time to explore anyway.
Q: What is the
leather demo in Florence like?
A:
This is relatively boring. They show you how they make some of their
boxes, then show you some jewelery, you are then free to have a look
in the gift shop, where you get a discount. Go on the demo, look
around and then get any leather products from here, but otherwise get
from the market if you have time.
Q: What is the
campsite area like in Florence?
A:
The campsite is all one big hill. Lots of stairs. It has a shop, wifi
that may work and a shop that sells beer. It is a good place. It also
has a pool and laundry facilities.
Q: What is the space electronic
disco in Florence with contiki like?
A:
This is a big club area, contiki does this as an optional. The place
is always packed but with young Italians. The music is good and so is
the drink prices. The way you pay for drinks is different here, you
get a card and show it to the the bar guys with each drink, when the
card is used up, you then have to pay it and get a new one. Go here
for a few hours even if you don't like clubs, just to say that you
have been here. Also there are a number of different areas playing
music.
Q: What is the Florence walking tour
like with Contiki?
A:
This is done as either an optional or part of the included things.
You will have a local guide join up and show you around the city. You
get to see the main square, walk across the main bridge, see the
historic and medieval sites and you will end up in the doumo area.
There will be plenty of time to take pictures, rest and explore. The
guide will also tell you about the history of interesting things.
Later when the tour is over, as the guide for the best way to get to
what ever you want to see or perhaps a good place to eat.
Q: On a tour that only spends 1
night in Florence, what happens?
A: On the afternoon that you arrive in
town you head to your accommodation, then relax a bit, have dinner.
After dinner your tour manager might walk you to some night life –
red garter bar. Next morning you may do a walking tour of the city,
have a bit of free time, attend a leather demo and then leave the
city. There is not much free time for a 1 nighter.
Q: How should i get around Florence?
A:
It is easy to just walk around, it is the best way to see everything.
Taxis are good to get back to your accommodations.
Q: In Florence, what is the red
garter bar like?
A:
The bar is a karaoke bar and also club. The karaoke part has two
levels with lots of tables. Drinks are cheap and can be bought by the
litre or half litre – including cocktails. It is just a fun
experience. Plus it also has an atmosphere, however there are lots of
Australian or USA people there as well, not many locals.
Q:
How long does it take to get from Pisa to Florence by coach?
It
takes about 90 mins to 2hrs depending on traffic.
A:
In Florence, how far is the campsite you stay at with contiki from
the city center?
It
is about a 20 – 25 min coach ride or 20 min taxi ride.
