A:There is a walking tour of the city when you first arrive. You may do the Vatican first then go for a walk about the city covering the usual pantheon, Spanish steps, trevi fountain. Depending on the tour manager you may go and see the forum area or see more statues and monuments. It usually lasts for about 2 hrs and is a good way to see the city. Later you may have time for dinner or the walking tour is broken up by dinner.

There is more to see, from the Catacombs, museums, circus maxiumus etc. You can do cooking classes or just wander around the city. An interesting thing to do is to do a bike tour that goes along the appian way to the aqueduct park. Also explore more of the forum area.

Gladiators in Rome are like the various dressed up characters in Times square or Hollyood, general people in a costume that are around for the tourists, happy to get a picture with you but very happy to take some money for the previlage. They will ask for money.

A: Rome is easy to walk around, there is lots to see in a small area. However if you need to travel to the further places, then the metro system is fast and cheap, so are the busses.

Q: If Vatican is closed on a Sunday or closes early, does contiki have an alternate plan to allow you to see it?
A: If the vatican is going to be closed the free day in Rome, then contiki will give you time to see it either the day of arrival or the day of leaving. Don't worry, it is usually part of an optional or included, so there will always be time to see it.

A: With contiki, they take you on a walking tour of all the main sights of the city, the walking tour takes about 2 – 3hrs to do, there is usually a break in there as well.

Q: If i start a tour in Rome, does my luggage get weighed, like in London with contiki?
A: No, the only location you bag gets weighed is if you start in London on a contiki tour.

Q: What are some other day trips in Rome that i can do?
A: You can go to hadrian's villa, see some roman ruins, go to ostia, catch the train to napels. There is plenty to do, just search on viator.
